Hi balloon1,
The maps used by Find my iPhone may have areas that are incomplete. See this article -
Specifically -
Note: Maps and location information depend on data collection services provided by third parties. These services are subject to change and may not be available in all geographic areas, resulting in inaccurate or incomplete maps or location information.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I just started having this problem. Blank squares. It was fine a couple of weeks ago, I have removed and uninstalled icloud - no better.
Any update on this? I've been seeing the same thing for a couple of months. Multiple computers and browsers. I never had this problem before.
This is a **** off! Apple!!!....go back to Google maps!
Hi Brett, Do you know if Apple will be going back to google maps for icloud or clearing up this annoying problem on their own?
was having same issue. checked "view" and realized I had zoom set at 125%. changed zoom to 100% and maps appear fine now.
Thanks! Changing the zoom to 100% did the trick. What an inconvenient "undocumented feature" that either 1) Apple should fix so that Find My iPhone works with different zoom levels within browsers or 2) Apple notifies everyone that the zoom level can't be any higher than 100% in order for the map display correctly. Preferably #1.
Sometimes if I change the zoom on the browser to 100% then use the + or - on the map to zoom it works (for a bit). Once broken it's hard to force a reload, but every now and then it does work. At 1st I blamed chrome, because firefox seemed to work, then that broke and chrome was better. It works fine from Safari on the phone, which would be great, if I wasn't trying to find the phone.
What a POS Apple maps is if it can handle only 100% zoom.
Interesting is that if you use the Safari browser by Apple the map is fine but using Internet Explorer or a Chrome based browser like Opera there is a large "X: right in the middle of the map.
Looks like Apple only want us to use Safari......what a suprise!...I hate Safari and more often that not I'm on a PC that's using either IE (worse then Safari) or Chrome/Firefox and so we have to put up with the broken map.
So it's either a bug or Apple doing it deliberately.
Which is it Apple?
