Q: Lion Server Mail Services
Whenever I try set up email services on Lion Server there are problems beyond comprehension. Is there a good manual that talks about pop3, iMap or SMTP and how they work ?? I don't just mean an Apple Manual because this information can be lacking in other very important considerations. I need to understand the server language and how email uses DNS, ports and other registrations to send and receive email. I can't just use a Comcast or Gmail address because they are not custom emails such as george@tool_company.com etc. If I can find the right book on this topic I can combine this information with previous knowledge and hacking techniques used in the past. I feel that Apple has all but dumped email services from its apps. Now, you can access an army of iPads or iPhones but not an email web browser. Eventually, I may have to buy a windows server so I can begin to see email server applications from a non - Mac environment. But, the money will be a factor here. If you know of a good book that talks about server services it might be the only way to "break the code !!"
Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.5), Lion Server
