I like having the downloads folder in the dock for easy access, but I accidentally removed it from the dock. When I put it back it was no longer ordered by date added, but by name, is there any way I can change this? I made sure the folder was sorted by date when I placed it in the dock.

You can change the sort order of a Stack in your Dock by right-clicking or control-clicking its icon in the Dock.
You can change how a stack appears by right-clicking or control-clicking its icon in the Dock.
