Q: AppleTV and Intel My WiFi Technology + Airplay Issues

I am using a Samsung laptop and iPhone 4S and iPad Generation 3 with my Home Sharing.  All home sharing is turned on and I have WEP 2 Personal security. How to get AppleTV to work with Intel My Wifi Technology? Does bluetooth has any part of the mirroring?  My iPad shows the TV present to make the configuration, but then disappears once configured.

    Howdy mcm145,

It sounds like there’s an issue getting your Apple TV connected to your Wi-Fi network and setting up Home Sharing. Take a look at the articles linked below, the first article will help you resolve the Wi-Fi connection issue and the second article will walk you through the process of setting up Home Sharing for your Apple TV.

it is the WEP protocol which can be easily hacked try setting your network to Personal WPA2 protocol and it should work instantly

    Jason,

I appreciate the articles, they gave some assistance, but I am still encountering issues.  The Intel My WiFi has created an Unidentified Network (work network) in Network and Sharing Center.  My apple TV is able to access my Wifi which is a different name than the work network.  Both, my WiFi and unidentified network show when the TV searches for networks.  The only way that I was able to mirror any items was to connect my ipad and the appleTV to the unidentified network, but if the laptop is not on (running the Intel My Wifi), no home sharing or mirroring will work.  How do I get the appleTV to bypass the Intel MY Wifi program to run strictly off the Wireless Network that provides internet connection.  All my devices connect to the my Wireless Network, which I have changed from the WEP to WPA 2 personal.

    Appreciate the help.

    Michael

is correct you just need to connect it to a network for it to work, and all the devices have to be new enough to support it.  These days most are.  How ever I would avoid AirPlay has it is honorably buggy and failure prone.   If you must use AirPlay then I would use a wired connection for the  ATV it self to help reduce the failures.

I had issues with ATV version 3, it kept dropping wifi connection after about 10-15 minutes, tried turning off bluetooth no effect.

I then reinstalled the  latest software on ATV even though it was up to date, it took about 30 mins but was worth it problem solved.

My 2013 MBA now streams with out dropping out.

If you are going to use airplay ensure that you have all the latest releases on your devices, and if a problem reinstall on ATV

    Hope this helps
