Cannot restore from Time Machine since doing Erase and recovery on my Macbook Pro

I did an Erase and Restore as my HDD was full. I want to selectively restore some data and applications but now my time machine will not go back beyond today although it says there is backup from September 2013.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10), 16GB RAM
