Q: How do I link my iPhone and macbook messaging

How do I receive my imessages from my iPhone 5 to my macbook?

note: my iPhone is unavailable to me for the time being, although I do know the serial number.

Basically what I'm asking is how can I link my macbook pro to my iPhone 5 without plugging in my iPhone.

If you want to see your iMessages on your MacBook, open the Messages app on your MacBook and sign in with the same Apple ID you use on your iPhone:

Thanks for your reply!
I also know that while I have been away from my phone I have received messages. Is there any way I can turn on my messaging on my macbook and receive those unread messages?

Sorry - not sure. I've had my Message app turned on forever on my Mac, so not remembering if older messages showed up once I was connected. Best bet is to set it up and see what comes up?
