Iphone 4 not connecting to airplay

Hi guys

I got an Iphone 4 (iOS 7.1.2) for christmas and it has trouble connecting to airplay. I can see the Airplay button but when I click on airplay the phone tries to connect and then it just resumes playing on the phone. I can't stream music, photos, videos, nothing at all. Our Apple TV software version is 6.2. Airplay works on all our other devices just not on my phone. So please help me.
