Q: iPhone 5s AT&T

Hello,

I Have an i Phone 5s AT&T. I emailed the carrier they got back to me OK-ing me to UNLOCK the phone to be used with a different company. (Red Pocket)

The question I have is, During the UNLOCK process do I want to keep the original SIM (AT&T) in? Or put in the SIM (Red Pocket) I plan on using?

Thanks in advance.

Gavin

    Hi BLANKSYNTHETICS,

This article contains the procedure for completing the unlock of your iPhone -

How to unlock your iPhone for use with another carrier - Apple Support

    Specifically -

If you have a SIM card from a carrier other than your current carrier, follow these steps:

    1. Remove your SIM card and insert the new SIM card.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Best,

    Brett L

Straight Talk may be a better cost-effective option if you're going to be using lots of data (or not very much)

The unlock should work with either the At&t SIM or the third party SIM inserted.

Some At&t MVNO carriers may not need the phone to be unlocked to work. Straight Talk works in an At&t locked iPhone 5S and Nokia Lumia 910 series.

    A quick addendum on Unlocking-

        1.Back up your iPhone.

        2. When you have a backup, erase your iPhone.

2A. - Connect to iTunes and wait for the unlock confirmation.

        3. Then proceed to restore your iPhone from the backup you just made.

Thanks for the reply. I got it figured out  I just backed up the phone and reset it with the original card in. After I put in the new card and restarted the phone.
