Update 10.10.2 and iPod shuffle recognition

Not sure if others have found this, but I recently installed the Yosemite 10.10.2 upgrade and now my iTunes will not recognize my iPod shuffle(s). I have two shuffles (generation 2 and 4) that neither is being recognized. I had this problem earlier, tested the USB connections on other machines and it worked and removed and reinstalled iTunes and neither worked. I reinstalled Yosemite from scratch and both shuffles were recognized and worked UNTIL I did the auto-update 10.10.2. Given the above, there is clearly a problem with the 10.10.2 update and some sort of conflict.

My machine is less than 6 months old, Macbook Pro with SSD, etc.

Hoping that someone has a solution. Pretty annoying to say the least.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I had many issues with OS X 10.10.2. The reason is that it is still in beta. If you installed the Yosemite public beta over the summer, it is still pushing updates. To fix it, you need to go into settings then app store. It will have a checkbox at the bottom that says to automatically install betas. You want to uncheck that. The you need to go to the app store. You need to download an installer of OS X 10.10.1. After it downloads, open it and install it. I did this exact process when nothing that used java worked under 10.10.2. It will not erase anything either since it is a smaller release not like downgrading from Yosemite to Mavericks. This should work.
