Q: If I save stuff on my iCloud, do I need to keep it on my laptop?

If I save stuff on my iCloud, do I need to keep it on my laptop?  I need to make room on my mac and most of my big files are on my iCloud account.  Do I need to keep them on my mac to if I want to use them later?

    iCloud will automatically create a shadow copy on your Mac of all files you a storing on iCloud Drive. iCloud Drive is meant for automatically updating all files across all devices. You cannot save space on your macs by moving files to iCloud Drive.   See this link:  iCloud Drive FAQ

     

    If you need to make space on your Mac, move the files to an external drive.
