iPhone 6 Problem - can NOT use my Personal Hotspot

I recently upgraded to the iPhone 6. It has the current iOS 8.1.2.


I can not use my hotspot to tether to my computer or use other peripherals (e.g. Amazon Fire Stick, Google Chromecast). I can use the USB tethering option for my laptop.


Is there a fix for this?

I have the same issue and since the manufacturer of the device I am trying to connect is Apple (in addition to any other manufacturer of any wifi capable devices that will also not connect) , I will go ahead and post here as well.


This just started happening suddenly. I'm on 8.1.2 and Nothing will connect. I see the blue bar at the top appear and disappear 2 or 3 times and the connection just fails. There are other threads on this topic as well. I have tried:


- Reset network settings

- Rename the device and therefore the hotspot

- Hotspot password change

- Forgetting the network on connecting devices

- Etc.


I would greatly appreciate some insight here. The troubleshooting steps in the link above do not work. The only thing I have yet to try is a full restore which I would prefer to avoid if possible.

Yes, the network SSID is visible. I've changed the network names, etc. and other devices are able to see it regardless. I was able on 1 occasion to connect my macbook after several tries, but both my iPad and another device are unable to connect. As I said, they are clearly attempting connection as I see the blue connection bar appear/disappear multiple times on the iPhone but then the connection either just fails with no error, or I get an incorrect password error when there is no issue with the password. I've also tried changing the pw on the hotspot to no avail.
