You're going to have to be more specific. What kind of computer do you have? Mac or Windows? Desktop or laptop? Fairly new, or older? All of these will make a difference. You may just need a cable, or an adapter card and a cable.
I Have a two year old iMac desktop. I just want to be able to charge my iPod, I don't really care about syncing it with my computer. I do not have a way to charge the iPod, as I cannot find the Firewire cord or the AC wall charger.
I would guess you need one of these: http://www.amazon.com/CITIE-Obliq-FireWire-IEEE-1394B-Firewire/dp/B002U5MFX8/ref =sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420165789&sr=8-1&keywords=firewire+800+to+400+cable
Firewire 800 (9-pin) for the iMac end, and Firewire 400 (6-pin) for the iPod end, but double-check the photo to make sure.
The back of my iMac has 2 lightning ports and 4 USB ports. Will the 9 pin work in the USB port?
Aha--then it's newer than I thought. I'm guessing you mean Thunderbolt (weird that they used such similar terms). You will still need the cable I mentioned, but in addition, you'll need a Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD464ZM/A/apple-thunderbolt-to-firewire-adapte r
There's no one-step Thunderbolt to Firewire 600 solution.
Thank you. I'll have to try this.
