my pascode wont work, ive tried the recovery mode but that wont work because of a network connection error, what do i do

Did the firmware download stop with the network error?
i clicked ok to restore myn ipod and it came up with network connection error
Does the the computer connect to the internet?
If yes
Update Server
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers

- For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem
it comes up with error -3212
