Stalled in final minute

I migrated 1.5 hours of files (via wifi) from an older Macbook Pro to a new Macbook Air.

For the past few hours, the Mac Air has been saying "About a minute remaining." The Macbook Pro has been saying "Less than a minute remaining" — as well as "Your other Mac is ready."

Ready like "ready to use"? If so… why does it still say about a minute to go?

I could Command-Q and see what I get… but this is pretty confusing. If it doesn't work, I've wasted an evening.

Update: I left it overnight and at some time during the night, the "one minute" expired and the migration was complete. Well… sort of complete. The Air said that some files had errors during the transfer. The sending computer quit the migration program by itself and went back to the Utilitiies window that I had launched Migration from.

I had asked for Word (for Mac) and Appleworks to come on over. They both failed, though a few bits showed up. I read later that Appleworks would have problems running anyway, as it wasn't upgraded to handle the Intel processors. I found and deleted any Appleworks program files that had transferred. 'Not sure why Word didn't come. More digging there. Chrome and Firefox also did not come over in their entirety, so I'll be loading them from the internet.

Anyway: Safari's bookmarks DID transfer, so my wife will be happy. I'm currently uploading the iLife package. It certainly would have been useful for this to be already activated. Probably a few hours before I'm totally free to fly.
