upgrade from lion to yosemite failed due to disc file problem

Hi, I tried to upgrade my Macbook Pro fromOS X 10.7 lion to yosemite, but the upgrade failed halfway saying that disc file need to be repaired. Then when I use Disc Utility to repair disc, there is no problem. When I tried to use Timemachine to restore my computer, it could not find the hard disc to restore my backup Time machine to. Now the Mac restarts directly going to Mac OS utility, but I could not restore with Time machine, and disc repair found no problem. Please advice what I should do. I would be happy just to go back to my previous OS lion without any upgrade if possible.

Thanks, Nubz. That is exactly what I have done, to reformat the disc and restore my OS lion from my Time machine backup. I first restore to my OS lion version, the state of my computer prior to my upgrade attempt. After I am sure that I have completely revert to my previous computer system, I decided to upgrade my OS again to Yosemite. This time it was a beauty and I am in Yosemite now. Thank you, Nubz, for pointing out my problem and helping out.

Best,

Boule
