Sep 30, 2015 11:36 AM in response to William Bombrayby alexisangelus,If you are on OS X Yosemite v 10.10.5 then the suggestion of going through the Finder to locate the "v.framework" is as futile as finding a stylish cocktail dress at the Hideous Skirt Convention. Once you are in Safari its best to click on "Safari" up top next to the apple icon then Preferences > General > and delete the URL in the Homepage field. Then close that window and you will be good to go.

Sep 30, 2015 1:07 PM in response to alexisangelusby pinkstones,That's not going to get rid of the adware that hijacked the browser and caused Safari to recognize that as the homepage. That's incomplete and frankly dangerous advice to give to someone who needs help removing malware or adware from their hard drive.

Oct 24, 2015 7:30 AM in response to William Bombrayby Dan Vendel,Encountered this problem today. Got this "Search Quick" crap in Safari.
None of the suggestions in this thread helped. There was no "V.framework" file.
The app "Malwarebytes..." didn't help, neither did manual removal of a bunch of files and folders.
However....
I found that the framework and files have changed name. Search for items named "Rodknight..." and delete them. That worked.

Sep 22, 2016 10:54 AM in response to William Bombrayby punditz,The Adware-Medic app is now known as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I downloaded it and had it scan my files. It located malware and I followed instructions to delete it. The malware still appeared. Then I clicked on the link Malwarebytes Anti-Malware gave in case the malware wasn't gone. I followed those instructions and the problem is solved, and I'm happy!
What was happening was that every time I opened a new tab, a webpage claiming to be a search engine appeared. I got this problem this from using an online "service" to download audio from youtube.
I recommend the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware app.
