Q: How does Apple DEP track which employee has which iPad?

Hello,

I have 1,000 iPads ready to be distributed with employees early next year. I have enrolled them with Apple's DEP and my DEP account is configured to work with my MDM solution.

Before I ship iPads to employees I'd like to know how I can easily track who is using which device. Will I have to manually assign a device to each user setup within my MDM? Or does this automatically happen when they sign-in with an Apple ID?
