Q: Batteries not available after clean install, new battery, and new SSD drive.
I have a mid 2010 13" Macbook Pro. The battery that I had in the computer indicated that it needed service. Having experienced this years ago, I bought a replacement battery. I also purchased a SanDisk Ultra II SSD Hard Drive. After installing both the new battery and the new HD, things took a turn for the worst.
I used the installation disk that originally came with the computer to do a clean install, with plans to migrate items later. However, upon start up, the computer is running terribly slow. All of the animations are lagged and everything takes a ridiculous amount of time to open. The installation of Snow Leopard took hours. After installation was complete, the system was still extremely laggy and was unusable. The computer indicates that "NO BATTERIES ARE AVAILABLE" and shows a battery logo with an x through it.
Upon a couple restarts, the computer runs fine for about 2 minutes. After this time, the fan kicks into full blow and the computer turns back into its lag ridden performance.
I have tried putting in the original battery, but strangely enough the computer still doesn't recognize any battery at all.
Any tips on how to resolve this issue? I have reset both the PRAM and the SMC multiple times.
Thanks
MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
