Jan 1, 2015 2:18 AM in response to Kastrologby Lexiepex,a folder in the sidebar is a sort of "alias" pointing to the real folder.
select the real folder in Finder and CTL+Click it, choose GetInfo,
then select a file or a folder that has the icon you want to use, CTL+click and choose GetInfo.
With the two Getinfo windows next to each other, click on the "wish" icon (left top) in the Getinfo folder, then choose EDIT from the Finder menu, and "copy";
now click the icon to be changed in the other Getinfo window and choose EDIT from the Finder menu and "paste".
With the new icon in place drag that folder to the sidebar in Finder.
