Imac covered in smudges and weird scratches after 6 months useage, first scratch appeared less than a week into useage!

Hello!

I got my imac (27 inch, 3.2 ghz) in June of 2014. So far it has been a fantastic piece of kit! With only 1 issue thus far. The screen looks disgusting.

Seriously, it is coated in scratches, smudges and I can't STAND looking at it. I have no pets or siblings that could do this damage and it honestly is irritating.

I was hoping that there is someone out there could have a quick fix to the scratches, something simple and not time-connsuming would be nice. Hopefully I haven't done anything that could "void the warranty" (literally, I went over 1 scratch that looked like a smudge with a small piece of tissue paper, only to find out it didn't go away!).

Please, help me guys.

You have one-year of warranty support, so contact iMac Service or Apple's Support. Do note that if you have AppleCare, then you have 3-years of warranty service and free phone service. If you don't, get it. It's the best warranty policy available for desktop machines. With the AppleCare's protection plan, if you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you might be eligible for an onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine (depends on where you're located).

Even though I could swear that I haven't touched my screen, I need to clean it every couple of weeks or so - it attracts dust, smudges, etc. You can try calling Apple; however, if it is cosmetic damage, that is generally not covered. You do need to clean your screen occasionally and, as with all expensive electronic gadgets: treat it well and carefully.

Here is the US iMac warranty:

Other than cleaning, you wouldn't be able to repair the screen; however, it can be replaced.
