Could Apple comment on whether Reset all Settings on iPad will erase all iCloud Drive data. I have read that on forums and would expect Apple to issue very clear warnings about such a terrible bug. That said, is the information still in the iPad's hard drive so a back up would put it back into icloud drive?

Apple won't comment on anything here. This is a user forum.

That said, I have no idea what you're talking about. Resetting the settings on your iPad will not erase data stored in iCloud.

LIfehacker is not a reliable authority - they tend to release kneejerk articles if one author has an issue with a feature, and the articles are not updated with accurate information. Erasing an iOS device will not wipe ICloud Drive - but feel free to use the chat feature on the Apple support site to get confirmation from Apple directly.
