Most router's have a built in web server - start Safari on your iPad and put in the IP address of the router - some routers use the "admin" user and the password it was assigned when you setup the router. Once you get logged in, there is usually a WiFi setup page that you can set the WiFi password.

What model of router is it that has the WiFi you're trying to get onto with your iPad?

If you don't know the WiFi password, you can try to login from a computer that is hardwired to the router via an Ethernet port - start a browser on the computer and then put in the IP address of ther router and then enter the username and password.

If you don't know the login for the router you can probably reset the router to factory defaults and hope you can get it reconfigured with a new login password, but this might be a problem if you're not sure of all the existing settings.

Good luck...
