My daughter gave me her iphone 4 after she purchased a new one. I need to change the sim card to get my number etc on the phone. There is no access hole on the right side of the phone - just a solid silver bar. Any help?

iPhones 4 came in 2 varieties. GSM and CDMA. The CDMA versions for carriers like Sprint and Verizon had no sim card slot and can only ever be used with the carrier they were sold for.
I believe Consumer Cellular is a reseller of GSM service, so the Verizon phone will not work with it at all. You can call them and ask if they also support Verizon. If not you can't use that phone.
It's probably a CDMA (Sprint or Verizon) phone, which doesn't have a SIM. You need to contact the carrier to activate it.
