Audio MIDI Help?! 32bit float?

so i checked out the settings in my audio and i saw that there was an option for a 2 channel 32bit float, is it better the a 2 channel 24bit integer? and does the sample rate Hz matter for audio as in the the high the value the better. I was just wandering because i want to improve my micphrone while talking on Skype or recording and was wandering what would be best. below are the options, please help.User uploaded file

I have the same question as you as far as 32 bit float works- from what I can understand at the moment, it's basically just playing 24 bit audio with 8 extra bits of headroom.. I think that would make your mic less likely to clip, if used correctly. For Skype you won't get any enhancements over 24 bit though, since it's compressed in such an evil/ugly way. 44.1k or 48k, are both good- 44.1 is the CD standard, and 48 is the video/movie/TV standard. I doubt it would hurt to bump it further than that (not sure if 96k is an option) Mac usually makes it work with everything. Unless you're using Garageband, in which case you're stuck with 44.1, it won't work right.. trust me...

In all practical applications, bumping the resolution up is highly satisfying in the concept and probably won't make any huge eye-opening differences. Go for it, and if you run into any problems put it back. At best, you're getting extra resolution- at worst, a program won't like it and you'll have to put it back.
