I am getting the usb to iTunes screen when trying to use apple tv. After googling, it appears I have to restore. However, I can not see apple tv in iTunes 12 after I connect with micro usb and power cord to my iMac. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your response. I ended up calling apple support and they basically said that there might have been interference while doing an upgrade and it is having a hard time powering up. So, I exchanged it, with no problems, where I bought it from. I reinstalled and made sure to turn automatic updates off so I have more control over when updates are happening.
