Q: Download An Earlier Version Of Find My iPhone

I recently got a refurbished 8 gig iPhone 4, I have tried downloading find my iPhone but get a message saying that can't because the app needs IOS 8, instead of the IOS 7 on my phone which cant be updated. Is it possible to get an earlier version of the app that is compatible with IOS 7, if so how can I do this? Or is there a good alternative app that I can download?

Did you try to use the AppStore on your phone to download the "Find my iPhone" app? Since your device is running iOS7, the AppStore on the phone should only show you compatible versions.

No, it just sends me a message noting that the app needs IOS 8. Here's a screenshot.

Did you already follow these steps?

Here's what you need to download an earlier version of an app:

iOS 4.3.3 or later on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

OS X Mountain Lion or later on your Mac

To download an earlier version of an app, follow these steps:

Open the App Store or Mac App Store.

Go to the Purchased screen on your iOS device or the Purchases tab on your Mac.

Find the app and choose Download. You'll see a message telling you if a compatible version is available. Tap Confirm to install this version.

If a compatible version isn't available, you can try contacting the app developer. Look for contact information on the app's product page in the App Store or Mac App Store.
