my macbook

i upgraded my macbook to os 10.7.2 and since then my sounds and videos are not working... I use to have os10.5.8..

MacBook, iOS 7.1.2

iOS runs on iPads, iPods, iPod Touch.

Mac OS X runs on Macs starting in 2002.

MacBooks do not run any form of Mac OS 9 (note the lack of X) or Classic.

Here's what may be causing the problem:

Some applications may output no audio, but system alert sounds and iTunes playback can be heard - Apple Support

Also Macs that old may need their PRAM battery replaced if they had one, if not replaced in the last 4 years. That's separate from the battery that is used off the mains. Resetting the SMC can also help:
