Q: Wifi slow - Fixed in Safe Mode though, what to do now?

Hey everyone!

I have a new Macbook Pro Retina and the WiFi is acting super slow sometimes. The connection is stable and it also connects instantly.

But sometimes it takes a while for the pages to actually load to the point where content is being shown.

Typing stuff into the searchbar also takes sometimes over 5 seconds until Google actually shows up.

I'm using the newest Yosemite version and Safari.

So far I booted into Safe Mode (holding shift while starting up) and the problem is solved in Safe Mode. Works perfectly there.

Any idea what I can do now to make it work in the normal mode as well?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

Kill the process with "macrumors" in the name and see whether there's an improvement.

Sorry for the late reply but I was busy meanwhile and hadn't had to use my macbook.

Killing the process macrumors didn't help and it was only a temporary process from browsing as well. After restarting there aren't any weird looking processes but the internet is still slow.

Today it feels extremely slow to be honest and nothing you could ever compare to the speed of my desktop pc.

I also tried out using a different browser (Firefox in this case) but it had the same problem of websites loading super long before actually loading anything.

Is there any possibility that it has to do with my router and the macbook's wifi card?

I just wanted to mention that I fixed the problem.

Looks like my router was actually causing the problem. I got myself a new FritzBox 7490 with AC standard and now everything works like a charm.

Why I thought it would work properly in SafeMode is unclear to me though. Must have been the classical "placebo" effect.

Still thanks a lot everyone for your help!
