Jan 10, 2015 3:44 PM in response to Linc Davisby Silwynar,Sorry for the late reply but I was busy meanwhile and hadn't had to use my macbook.
Killing the process macrumors didn't help and it was only a temporary process from browsing as well. After restarting there aren't any weird looking processes but the internet is still slow.
Today it feels extremely slow to be honest and nothing you could ever compare to the speed of my desktop pc.
I also tried out using a different browser (Firefox in this case) but it had the same problem of websites loading super long before actually loading anything.
Is there any possibility that it has to do with my router and the macbook's wifi card?

Jan 27, 2015 1:40 PM in response to Silwynarby Silwynar,I just wanted to mention that I fixed the problem.
Looks like my router was actually causing the problem. I got myself a new FritzBox 7490 with AC standard and now everything works like a charm.
Why I thought it would work properly in SafeMode is unclear to me though. Must have been the classical "placebo" effect.
Still thanks a lot everyone for your help!
