Lego NXT 2.0 Software Crashes on Yosemite

Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0 software is unstable on Yosemite. While it installs with complaints and runs fine, it will soon (minutes to days) begin to crash immediately after starting. A reinstall helps and then the problem starts again. No obvious association with other apps running or not. The Lego Education site says that the SW will work on Windows and Macs except for Yosemite. Does anyone have a workaround or information about the problem? Thanks in advance for any assistance/information.

Mini late 2012, 16 GB Yosemite 10.10.1

The Lego Education site says that the SW will work on Windows and Macs except for Yosemite.

You need an earlier OS to run this software. One option is to run a virtual machine.

Virtual Machine for 10.7/10.8

The above still applies.

It says on the LEGO Windstorms website that

"Before you start
The software for NXT 2.0 (set 8547) can't be installed on Macs running OS 10.10 Yosemite." 😢

I found this link and while I have not had a chance to play around yet, the software DID open and seemed happy to stay open!

I am running 10.10.3 on a Macbook Pro.
