Battery life expectancy

My 2011 MBP shows green on the charging cable indicator light, but will not read past 99% on the screen. Is this a battery that is becoming worn and in need of replacement. And how could it be replaced?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), early 2011- 4GB DDR - 2.3 GHz I5

“Occasionally, the battery may not show a full charge (100%) in OS X, even after the power adapter has been connected for an extended period of time. The battery may appear to stop charging between 93 percent and 99 percent. This behavior is normal and will help to prolong the overall life of the battery.”

My battery will not charge to 100%

This is a problem of battery Calibration: you need to fully discharge and recharge your battery (and this must be done once a month).

THIS IS INCORRECT. THE BATTERY DOES NOT NEED CALIBRATION.

If you will refer to this Apple support article you will note that in essence, all MBPs from the year 2009 or later do not require calibration. All that will do is add an unnecessary cycle to the battery and the deep discharge will tend to shorten the battery life.
