Here is how I do it on my Windows 8.1 PC, first I unlock my phone, this is important, then I connect to USB, my iPhone connects like a pen drive does, pop out asks how I want to proceed, I select Open to view folder, the you will find folder DCIM, in there you will find your photo's and video's, drag them off to your PC, you can then delete from there or from your phone but don't forget to delete from "Deleted" folder too. Hope this helps.

What do you have Windows 8 or Windows 7 and do you have the latest version of iTunes installed, bearing in mind drivers for your iPhone/Ipad are installed with iTunes, and as I said make sure your iPhone/iPad is unlocked before connecting to PC. While connected if not showing check devices see if you can install driver, give a moment or two after connecting to see if driver is being installed, even a pen drive installs drivers. Jim
