How do I setup hotmail with 2-step verification on iPhone

1. Delete the account in Mail App

2. Get an App password from Microsoft, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12409/microsoft-account-app-passwords-t wo-step-verificationhttps://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12409/microsoft-account-app-passwords-t wo-step-verification

3. In Mail App, create a new account using the App password you got from Microsoft.

P.s. Delete the original account in Mail is critical.

That explains how Apple ID 2 step works but I believe the original poster is asking how to set up Mail on his iPhone so that it will work with Hotmail's 2 step verification -- and that has nothing to do with whether or not he has 2 step turned on for his Apple ID.
