I have an edited movie which I would like to keep, but I would like to pull clips out to make a shorter version for a relative. Is is possible to open multiple windows and just drag the clips over? Right now, I've dragged the clips to desktop, but when I drag them back to iMovie it takes forever to convert them back from Quicktime. Is there a better way to do this? Help!
to my knowledge it is only possible to work with multiple projects in iMovie 6
in order to copy clips more quickly, you could do the following:
• create a new (empty) iMovie project and close it.
• in Finder go to that project, ctrl-click and choose "Show Package Contents"
• navigate to the Media folder and keep that window open
• open the original iMovie project, select the clips you need and drag them to the media folder window
when successively opening your new project, you'll get a message saying that there were "stray clips" found. You'll need to open the trash and drag the clips from there to the timeline.
An even better way could be to simply duplicate your iMovie project and start working on the copy - disk space provided.
