I had to change my apple ID due to someone else using it and changing the password, so now i can't sign out of icloud as the email is wrong and i dont have the password to turn off find my iphone. Help!

Basically, someone was hacking my apple account for a while and kept changing the password so i kept resetting it, now i've had to change my email as icloud still wouldn't accept my new passwords - even after being updated. Now i can't sign out of icloud due to it being the wrong email and an unknown previous password, as i can't turn off find my phone.ipad. How do i solve this without losing everything as i can't just delete the account and the usb ports on my laptop have gone so i can't back up to my laptop. I'm running completely on icloud but desperately need it to update so i don't lose all my uni work as well off my ipad.

iPad, iOS 7.0.4

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.

This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.

However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.

The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.

You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

Hi Winston,

Great response to a question that I sent to apple support weeks ago, but they failed to respond to. Thanks

I think that I'm unfortunately in a slightly trickier position that Charlotte in that my old apple_id is for an email address that I can no longer access (it's a blueyonder (virgin media)) one. So even though I followed your advice and changed my id back to the old one, as I can't get into my emails to verify the account, I still can't login and therefore logout of the cloud and amend the id. To compound the issue, my cloud id was being used by both my wife and daughter on their iPhone 5C's and my wife now gets the login to iCloud message popping up all of the time rendering the device useless for prolonged periods of time.

Do you have any advice on what I can try next? All help appreciated. Thanks

Regards, Jon

Issue is that the iCloud on my devices won't accept my new password, on either of my devices for some reason. So I can't even change it back to the old email. The passwords work on iCloud on my computer and my sisters laptop but it also won't allow me to log on through my iTunes comes up with error code -50. It's getting frustrating and my phone and iPad becomes useless as all it is doing is asking for my to sign into iCloud which I can't do as whatever password I change it to they won't accept

Hi Winston.

Thank you very much for your great response.

The problem was that I had an email for icloud that was closed last 15th desember and I needed to change the AppleID in all my devices . This was easy to change it in configuration settings for itunes and store but not for iCloud, because by default it displayed the old Apple ID and only requested for password.

But after read your response I solved this problem.

So thank you very much for your excellent support.

Regards, Joaquim

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.

You will need to show patience with the procedure and be prepared to demonstrate without question that the account belongs to you. Don’t expect access to be restored immediately and if you aren’t the owner of the Apple ID registered to the device the account won’t be reset.
