ApplicationsOpen the Displays pane in System Preferences. If there is an Arrangement tab, select it and then uncheck the box marked

Jan 3, 2015 6:25 PMby Steven Zaveloff,I know about this but that only works until the next time something causes mirroring. Like rebooting or turning on Apple TV. What I want to be able to do is disable mirroring if possible or make it so that mirroring is not the default so that it does not happen unless I want it to.

So you uncheck the box, and then it spontaneously becomes checked again? Does that happen if you close and reopen the preference pane? If not, when?

Turn off AirPlay on the ATV and see whether that has any effect. If it doesn't, I don't know what else you can do. This seems to be some sort of bug.
