Q: Logic Remote can't find Logic or Mainstage on my Macbook

When attempting to connect the Logic Remote app to Logic or MainStage on my 2011 Macbook Pro, the app tells me that "no mac running Logic, MainStage or Garageband could be found." I have tried connecting to Logic on a different mac with and it worked fine.

I have also tried connecting on a different wifi network as well as bluetooth and neither worked.

Deleting the com.apple.logic.pro.cs and com.apple.logic10.plist files in preferences and restarting the computer didn't work, neither did turning the firewall off. Re-installing LPX didn't work and re-installing Logic Remote didn't work either. I am running the most recent software on my Mac and iPad. the app connected fine before iOS 8.

I'm rather disappointed in this blunder by Apple. Any ideas as to other things I can try?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

Logic Remote: May not connect if a Touch OSC device is already installed in Logic Pro X - Apple Support

if it's not that then typically the issue has been found to be caused by one of two main things..

    1) The router you are using..... Some non Apple routers cause issues...(Though you also stated you couldn't connect via Bluetooth which is strange as normally thats an easy thing to do)

    2) Other software running on the Mac.... be it Little Snitch incorrectly configured... or in some cases,  incorrectly configured network settings... after installing things like Mackeeper etc...

Finally, did you also hard reset your iPad? (Hold down Lock and Home buttons together until you see the black screen with the white apple and then release....)

It also happens sometimes with my setup (iMac i7, LPX 10.0.7) - I fix it by 1) restarting Logic or 2) restarting my iMac.

    Thanks for the reply.

It wouldn't be my router because I set both devices to a different network and in a different building and they still didn't work, and it's not my iPad because my iPad was able to connect to a different mac running logic in that same building. Mackeeper had at one point been installed on my computer  but has since been uninstalled for quite some time now.

I think this problem arose when I installed the new OS.

I dont' see anything specific, that could be causing your issue though you have installed stuff like iobit (MacBooster?), TrapApp and TuneUpMyMac.. All of which I  really don't recommend.. But I don't think any of those is the root cause of your issue (though with those type of apps.. who knows!)

So.. did you read CCT's comments in this thread?

Logic Remote Sees My Computer but Won't Connect

I am running the most recent software on my Mac and iPad.

    You are not...

You are running 10.10.1 so try updating to 10.10.2... (there are fixes in there for the various WiFi/Bluetooth issues going on in OS X ) and make sure your iPad is updated to 8.1.3

...and in the process... you haven't restarted your Mac in over 5 days.... so thats worth a try.
