Kodak printer printing blank pages after upgrading to OS X Yosemite

Since updating to OS X Yosemite last year, I have been having trouble printing to my Kodak Office Hero 6.1. Print message sends perfectly to printer but the page is just printed as a blank. The printer head moves as if it was printing but no ink comes out. I have done the following:

1. Changed printer cartridge

2. Reset printer and the WIFI network is prints through

3. Updated the software settings through Kodak

4. Removed and re-added print drivers through apple

I am at a loss to know what to do now. Any ideas?

Kodak has posted an unsupported hack that has been reported to enable printing to a Kodak printer not supported in OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"). Perhaps it would have the same effect with some other kinds of printers that aren't supported in Yosemite. I have no information about that, one way or the other.

I have not tested the hack myself and I don't know all the possible effects. As far as I know it will not break the compatibility of printing software that is already compatible with Yosemite. It may degrade the security of the web administration interface of CUPS. That interface is not enabled by default, and will not be enabled by the procedure described here. Even if it were enabled, I know of no way it could be exploited, with or without the modification. Nevertheless, if you have enabled the web administration interface, you should disable it if you decide to follow these instructions. If you don't know what the web administration interface is, you haven't enabled it.

This worked for me-

Do the following steps to address the issue:

  1. Go to Spotlight, then enter Terminal and press Enter.
    The terminal window/program opens.
  2. Enter sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf' in the terminal.
  3. Enter your system OS login password when prompted.
Note: The password you enter will not appear, which is normal. Be sure to enter the correct password.
  4. Enter sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsdYour screen will look similar to the following:
Last login: Mon Nov 10 16:34:57 on console
    Macintosh:~ lindaterry$ sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf'
    Password:
    Sorry, try again.
    Password:
    Macintosh:~ lindaterry$ sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
    Macintosh:~ lindaterry$
  5. Try to print again.
