a little confused

i am confused as to what my DNS settings should be for my master and my replica. i know enough about DNS where i can get myself into trouble and i could also get myself out. i am having a hard time understanding the settings on the master and the settings on the replica and how to tell if both servers are transferring. any help is appreciated!
