I have always been able to burn DVDs from iMovie after moving them to iDVD. I tried to do this today and all of the sudden it will not allow me to burn the disc. It says insert a recordable disc, so I put in a DVD-R. It goes in for a few seconds, makes some noises, and comes out. I updated everything possible and made sure I have enough space. Help!

Try this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:

Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.

To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.

Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

Now see if you can burn the disk image to disk with Disk Utility.

    Hi

    BRAND of DVD used ?

What Video-CODEC are the material formatted in ?

FREE SPACE on Start-Up (Boot) HARD DISK ? (Other HDs of NO interest as the space must be on the Boot HD)

ONE MORE THING - When did You use a CLEANING DVD (no liquid but the one with brushes) ?

I do from time to time.

    Yours Bengt W
