Storing applications on original SSD on Macbook Air mid 2011

I have recently replaced my original 64 GB Mac SSD with a new 240 GB SSD. The original drive can now be used as additional storage. I think this is a great feature. I wonder if I can move my iTunes and iPhoto and all associated files to the attached Drive.

Should I do it? Will there be any problems accessing the photos and music as long the original SSD is attached as USB?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Baa'ul,

You can move your iTunes and iPhoto libraries to an external drive.

For details, there's articles for each.

iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder - Apple Support

iPhoto: How to move the Library folder to a new location - Apple Support

There's also some extra explanation for iPhoto here which has a section specifically for moving the iPhoto library to an external drive.

iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users - Apple Support

Just remember, the external drive needs to be connected when you use iTunes or iPhoto.

Take care,

Nubz
