mobile printing from iPhone

I have to carry the equipment to print from my iPhone (4S latest software 8.x.x) in my car. Do I really have to airprint and set up a router plus the printer? I really want to travel as light as possible. Is bluetooth or corded printing possible? A software package would be ok but Im trying to travel as light as possible and keep the power draw to a minimum too.

Hi there MrFoto,

Yes indeed, the printer needs to be connected to the same network that your phone is connected to and be compatible with AirPrint to be able to print wirelessly from the phone. According to this article:

About AirPrint

To use your AirPrint printer with Wi-Fi, the printer must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device or Mac, either through bridging, or a direct connection to your Wi-Fi network.
