Since you have not told us what type of laptop it is, there's no way to know.
If its a Supported Mac, then Yes.

What do you want to stream? As it's a windows machine you'll need Airparrot if it's something like CBN or BBC... However, the ATV has all your iTunes store movie purhcases build in as well as things like Netflix etc...
