This is probably a very simple process. I just need a little direction. Does anyone happen to know how to disable wifi on a MAC desktop when using an ethernet cable versus wifi?
iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I use an older OS but I would start by looking in System Preferences > Network. I went to the extent of removing my wif-fi card entirely in my desktop G4 so it isn't involved in any part of the computer operation at all.

System Preferences>Network. Click the Airport connection in the list on the left and then click the 'Turn Airport Off' button.
Ok another Q to stump you... 🙂 LOL! How about checking my camera to see how the lighting is for face to face real time chatting... Where on the MAC do I access my webcam to see if my lighting is bright enough?

EDIT: If the stuff below seems more complicated than you wish to be involved in, feel free to ignore it.
The Mac will send packets bound for the Internet to the Top-Most ACTIVE interface listed in the left side of the box at:
System Preferences > Network
If you set the 'Service Order' to have Ethernet at the top, whenever Ethernet is working, Wi-Fi will be ignored.
Set Service order is available using the gear Icon at the bottom of that box.
So all my Internet traffic is going over my Ethernet connection, even though Wi-Fi is still connected and nominally "active".
