Q: How to charge and discharge Macbook Pro?

Hi,

I am using 2009 mid Macbook pro with OS X Yosemite. I would like to know how to properly charge and use Macbook Pro to keep the battery in good condition.

Please let me know which is correct procedure:

1. Charge to 100% and use until it discharges to say 40% and then charge again to 100% and so on.

2. Always plugged in while using even if its charged to 100%

3. other options

Thanks in advance

    Mac notebooks with built-in batteries:

    • All MacBook Air computers
    • All MacBook Pro computers with Retina display
    • MacBook (13-inch, Late 2009 and later)
    • MacBook Pro (Early 2009 and later)

If your Mac has a built-in battery, don’t  discharge the battery completely.

That will reduce the health of the battery.

Keep the computer plugged in whenever possible.

If you keep the computer always plugged in, make sure that at least twice a month

run it on battery until battery charge level drops to about 50-40%.
