Spotlight Search icons and Wikipedia summary missing

Hi,

Does anyone happen to know what setting in iOS influences the way Spotlight Search is being displayed default? And then especially settings regarding this:

versus this way:

So, my iPhone 5 and iPad and my colleagues iPhone 6 Plus show the icons without having typed anything. Besides if pressed on 'Wikipedia' after having entered text, the Wikipedia info is shown in Spotlight Search.

On my iPhone 6 on the other hand, no icons are shown at all and no Wikipedia text is shown. After tapping on Wikipedia Safari is opened, instead of showing short info in Spotlight.

All devices are running iOs 8.1.2.

Tried searching the web and this forum, but couldn't find any answer....

(N.B. It doesn't have to do with the language displayed.)

Have you tried to go into Settings --> General --> Spotlight search and edited or played around with what all is checked?

Sometimes narrowing that list of options may help

Tried it. Checking everything off, checking a few options back on, changing the sort order, etc. Tried a soft and a hard reboot, but no result at all.

Tried all kinds of privacy settings, tried setting the default search engine back to Bing, etc.

It may have something to do with factory settings, as I have given my iPhone 5 a complete, clean factory reset (and the icons etc. are shown), and my colleagues iPhone 6 was rather new (now, after a few weeks his iPhone does not show the icons and Wikipedia text any longer as well).

But it remains a mystery when and what is changed...

I think I found the answer. The icons in the horizontal row are only shown the first x number of times as a sort of explanation of how Spotlight works. The snippets (after having typed some text) of websites like Wikipedia and Bing will only be shown if the language (Settings > General > Language and Region > iPhone-language) 'matches' the configured region (The Netherlands, in my case, where the main language is Dutch). So with English the snippets don't show up, in Dutch they do. Haven't tried setting my region to the US/UK with language English, but I think this will probably work as well...

I have the same problem with iPhone 6s iOS 10.1.1. I tried your solution of keeping the same language and corresponding region. Didn't work. It was great to have a Wikipedia summary available instantly for the search term.

Please help if there are any troubleshooting steps you can think of!
