Jan 7, 2015 5:11 AM in response to Ben Stackby Ben Stack,Originally the “other” showed as backup. When I turned Time Machine off it became “other”. Turning Time Machine back on… it is still “other”. I am not sure how it ever got there anyhow as I use an external drive for Time Machine.

Jan 9, 2015 7:40 AM in response to dominic23by Ben Stack,Thank you for the reply. I had already tried all of those things but none had an impact on the issue. It turned out to be an issue with journaling on the drive. I restarted in safe mode and ran disc repair. It took about 15 minutes but resolved the problem. One the techies at work assisted me. He said SSD is very fast and since my drive is also encrypted when I turned off time machine local snapshots the drives journal likely didn't keep up.
I won't lie. I have no idea what that all means and I am likely not retelling it correctly. None the less: safe mode, repair disk and problem solved.
