''Sim Not Valid'' on activation screen! *PLEASE HELP*

I have purchased the iPhone 6 64GB Silver from Verizon Wireless. I purchased it on November 18th 2014 and i was able to use the phone under the Verizon Network for 2 days I asked Verizon as ALWAYS to have to Unlocked because i was leaving the country in business trip for a week and therefor i wanted to use my iPhone with the Vodafone Network as i have always done this with the previous iPhone's under Verizon network. When i had my iPhone 5 & iPhone 5S i have called Verizon to have it unlocked and therefor they have done it, but now with the new iPhone 6 they tell me that its a 4G Phone and its already unlocked sir, there is nothing they can do to unlock it any further but in reality the iPhone 6 its Lock to Verizon Wireless Network, according to Apple, and Vodafone they both say that its Locked to Verizon Wireless, that's what it shows in their system. Now i have called Verizon and asked them again to unlock my iPhone which they insist and tell me the same thing over and over even their Manager and Global Team Support including the Supervisors they all say the same thing that the iPhone is Unlocked!!!! Now i have contacted Apple again this time Apple said that it is locked to Verizon is what they see on their computer that this IME#354409063763754 is showing Locked to Verizon once again and again and AGAIN! so who is lying here Apple or Verizon?!? Interesting! one of the Apple costumer care could not believe my story after speaking to 5 different one from Apple and 38 different from Verizon, and there for she decided to call Verizon and find out why aren't they unlocking my device. now, after being on the phone 3 way me Apple care and Verizon for 15min Verizon hangs up the phone on Apples face and tells me I can Not Believe they hang up on my face! interesting huh? Well Apple care then said ill transfer you to Seignior Adviser for further help there is nothing that she could do, but transfer me to much higher grade in helping the costumers. Now the Seignior Adviser couldn't believe that i had to go through all this and said I'm here to help and i will help, i said sure you will, will see how much you can. Then he tries and tries and in the end NOTHING! since he couldn't do anything he said let me transfer you to much higher which is their Consumer Relations. Now they couldn't believe that i had to go through all this and that they have never heard such story that this had happen to anyone before, there for he was going to help me resolve my issue. Now they have contacted Verizon and Verizon keeps saying the same thing mean while on the Apple system it still shows Locked to Verizon Wireless.

Now what they Verizon and Apple did to try and resolve this issue is Connecting my iPhone 6 to iTunes and have it Factory Restore! ok! so i did as i was told,

now after 30 min of restoring the iPhone to factory settings im back to Activation Screen from beginning.

1. Choose Language - English

2. Choose Region - United States

3. Choose Wi-Fi

4. Sim Not Valid!

there is no other options, either go back or retry, and none has worked. I have done the Restore 5 times with and with out sim card and still same error,

With out the sim card, after choose the Wi-Fi, it says Sim Required, there is no other options only go back and retry.

I put the sim back in and its still says the same

<Back

SIM NOT VALID

The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone s from a carrier that is not Supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.

Try Again

Now i cant even go to my home screen what do i do? PLEASE HEP!

I really need to get this iPhone 6 to work, I need help please someone help, they both companies have lied to me Verizon and Apple, and they both not doing a **** thing about it, its been almost 2 months and i haven't been able to enjoy my iPhone, they have got my hard earned $$$$ and they don't send me a new device to have it replaced, I have requested a NEW one since i have paid for new and they Sorry we cant under their Policy and my 14 money back is expired, well its expired because of them not me. they keep on pushing and putting me to wait here and there so time went out and me still without a working device yet they have got my money $$$ 😢

I really need Help Please any suggestions?

I thank you all very much from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read and respond to my need.

THANK YOU ALL

If you purchase a phone from Verizon, then if you are in the US, then you can only ever use this phone in the US on Verizon and no other operator because Verizon is a CDMA carrier and in the US, then it is locked to Verizon and if in the US, then you need to have a contract with Verizon to be able to use the phone.

However, the Verizon phone does have a GSM sim card tray and this is unlocked and intended for international travel, so that you can use local sim cards in your phone whilst travelling and no incur international roaming charges.

The problem may be that if you are in the US and you are trying to insert a sim card into the phone to activate it that is a GSM sim card, then this will not work because in the US you will only be able to use the Verizon phone on the Verizon CDMA network and no other. If you put a sim card in, this will be local sim cards that are intended to be used whilst travelling.

Also, don't post personal information on this forum - it is a user to user technical support forum and you are NOT talking to Apple here.

glad i found this thread but disapointed that there is no resolution. Here is what I know this far I have lived over seas for 4 years now and Verizon does work with both gsm and cdma carriers over seas. With the new iPhone 6 plus my friend has bought from Verizon is not unlocked. A Imei check shows it still locked to Verizon. The same check I have done on countless other phones. This is the second phone i have seen that was not unlocked. I did everything from factory reset to DFu reset with no luck. Now I am getting the sim not valid. frustraring the only reason I bought the Verizon phone was because they are suppose to be unlocked

There is no way to do an IMEI check that means anything. The sites that claim to be able to do this are shams or worse. ALL Verizon iPhones from the 5 up (5, 5C, 5S, 6 and 6+) are all UNLOCKED for use on GSM networks. They are only locked to Verizon on CDMA networks. The only reason that it might appear to be locked is if it was jailbroken.

i guess the source I've used to check tons of iPhones that were 100% accurate in verifying all the iPhone's info were all "shams". This Iphone 6 plus I checked with the same source musy have been a sham even Apple verified that it is indeed locked to Verizon. Jailbreaking has nothing to do with the phones imei showing locked. Even if you do a check on a phone that is jailbroken it will not show . I've been dealing with Verizon phones for a long time tons of iPhones . I have never seen this issue intill the phone I bougbt and I thought it might have been a isolated issue till I found this thread. I've said I have lived over seas for 4 years now and Verizon iPhones do work on other cdma carriers. TThis issue is not user error a appearence of the phone not being unlocked. They are suppose to be unlocked. Now i see this is not a isolated issue.

You don't have to believe me. But by law ALL Verizon iPhones from the 5 on are unlocked; it was a condition of Verizon being awarded extra bandwidth by the FCC. In addition, as of January this year Verizon has unlocked all iPhone 4S models as part of the all-carrier unlocking agreement in the US. If you have a 4S all you have to do is restore it using iTunes to unlock it.

This has been confirmed by multiple users posting in this forum over the past 2 years, who have bought Verizon phones specifically because they are unlocked worldwide for GSM and LTE.

The reason jailbreaking is an issue is that many jailbreaks replace the baseband firmware, which makes the phone incompatible with unlocking directives and carrier updates that do the unlocking when the phone is activated.

I never said I did not believe you. Every Iphone I have sold that were Verizon were in fact indeed unlocked. I too can confirm that every iPhone 5-5s is indeed facrory unlocked. not every Iphone 6 and 6 plus is unlocked as the reason many others have posted the same issue in this thread. It might be lesser than 1% but they are obviously out there. As someone who sells phones who is looking for a soltion after countless numbers of Verizon iPhones he sold were in fact unlocked and now has physicaly come across 2 that are not and after reading this thread it is obvious that there is a issue some were whether it be Apple (unlikly) or Verizon. Either way the issue is there

i have never seen a post on the iPhone 6 or 6 plus intill now. the gsm side is suppose to be unlocked but is not. We can go at this all day. i have handled and sold well over 100 verizon phones from s3 to now the iPhone 6 plus this is the second time I have seen this issue. The first time I bit the bullet now the second time I started looking and came acris this thread after a quick Google search. TTheir is a such thing obviously because you have people complaing it is not unlocked. As I've stated before the Verizon cdma side does work with other cdma over seas I can not explain why or If it does or does not work with sprint I've never tried but I have physically tried and currently using my Verizon phone with AU kddi which is indeed a cdma carrier

Feb 19, 2015 4:32 PM in response to Marc915

Your post is the first time I've seen the 6 or 6 Plus mentioned in this issue. Again, thanks to Verizon's bulk change in unlock policy the iPhone 4 was impacted and apparently some iPhone 4S models. Other than you I haven't seen the iPhone 5, 5s, 6 or 6 Plus mentioned. Period. If Apple is saying the GSM side of your Verizon iPhone 6 or 6 Plus is locked then it is a mistake and in violation of Verizon's agreement. Ask for an Apple Senior advisor and ask them to clear it.

The CDMA side of any phone is not locked nor unlocked. If a CDMA carrier accepts carry in phones and the frequencies match you can use the phone regardless of whether it is Sprint or Verizon. If it is not working that is another issue entirely. A SIM is only required for the Verizon phone if you are trying to use LTE.

I Have been using my Verizon iPhone 6 plus on T-Mobile since day 1 and never had any issues it even catches LTE.

your iPhone has a hardware issue take it to the Apple Store and have them Repalce it.

all Verizon iPhone from the i5 and up is unlocked right out of the box this also applies to Samsung and any other android devices.

I have this issue too, I bought my iphone6 and cant use it outside USA. I have tried att and tmobile and it works fine. When I started researching came across this thread. I need the phone to be unlocked, this is why I bought it from verizon. To bad nobody has a solution yet.

The policy my imei has states: US GSM/VZW N61/N56 Service Policy which means, Is locked internationally and unlocked in the US.

Mar 6, 2015 7:04 AM in response to cett123

I talked to a senior advisor who contacted the engineering department, they said my phone was a replacement phone and they needed the serial number of the original phone, which I dont have.

When I called again, a different senior advisor told me that not all Verizon phones come unlocked, If I wanted mine unlocked world wide I had to contact the carrier directly but since Im not the original owner Im pretty much stuck with US unlock.

I guess you just have to be aware of this new service policy and know that it does in fact exists.

Mar 8, 2015 1:39 AM in response to ekro30

I share a similar experience faced by "ekro30 & cett123, I think we have a solution which i unfortunately am not able to try since i am outside USA. if i understand correctly from all the chats i have had with Apple & Verizon, our problematic iPhones are not yet activated with their respective operators after the replacement (indeed our iPhones are replacements, and my model no starts with N). Can someone try going to Verizons website (http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/nso/enterDeviceId.do?&zipRdr=y) and try activating the iPhone and test whether it changes its default activation policy.
