I'm sorry to hear you are having playback issues in iTunes on your Mac. If you are playing locally stored music (i.e. not streamed) and you are having intermittent but persistent transient audio distortion issues (cutting in and out, jumpy, etc), you may want to see if it is related to a system resource issue. You can try keeping Activity Monitor open and see if the audio "glitches" correspond to any unusually high Memory or CPU usage. You may find the following article helpful:
