how to convert .m4a file extension to .m4r

I just want to know how to go about converting a .m4a file extension "customized voice recording" to a .m4r file extension so I can use the "customized voice recording" as a text tone

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.1.2

In Windows Explorer, simply change the .m4a file extension to .m4r.

how do you do THAT in Windows Explorer.

I tried but obviously did it wrong cause it didn't work

Right click - Properties.

Change file extension to .m4r.
