When I import audio into GarageBand 10 either by dragging off of the desktop or taking the files out of iTunes it will only let me put one track of audio in. When I try to drag a file into a second track it replaces whatever I placed in the first track. What is the problem?
Garageband stupidly does not tell you that *.mp4 files react like this. You must convert your audio to .mp3 or .m4a and it will drag and drop as expected. I ran into this issue, found your question, which eventually lead me to experiment with audio formats.
What kind of track are you dragging the song to?
Adding multiple audio files is easiest done by dragging the song from the Media Browser to the empty space below the track area. Then GarageBand will create a new track with the correct settings and not try to use the previously selected track.
